ロンドンとノルウェー：スタバンゲルに拠点を置くグラフィック/映像クリエイションスタジオ［ELEFANT ART］。学生時代から多くのクリエイティブアワードを受賞し将来を嘱望されてきたAlexander Turveyによって設立されたクリエイティブスタジオだ。
ファッション/アートを中心としたディレクション、イラストレーション〜アニメーションまで一貫して行っている。

Hitspaper：Elefant Artの歴史について教えて下さい。
Alexander：私はAlexander Turveyという名前でElefant Artの創始者兼ディレクターでAriel Hofstadとデェオを組んでいます。
私達はイギリス：ロンドンとノルウェー：スタバンゲルに拠点を置くデザイン/アニメーションスタジオで、http://www.elefantart.com
業務としては主に映像、アニメーション、イラストレーション、及びグラフィックデザインを行っています。
私のバックグラウンドはファルマスアートカレッジでグラフィックデザインを学んでいた時に映像を始めたことから始まりました。
そこでE4 Identなど多くの受賞を勝ち取り、それがChannel4のプロモの依頼を受けるきっかけとなったのです。
それからロンドンにあるデザイン／映像スタジオ"Precursor"に勤務してMTVやSUZUKI、E4等のプロモの制作に携わりました。
そして現在では私達のスタジオElefant Artにすべてを注いでいます。

私達は先の07 Digit magazineのNEW DESIGNERSのTOP10として、またComputer Arts' magazineにもNEW ILLUSTRATORSのTOP20として掲載されました。
最近ではロンドンに拠点を置くミュージックプロモのディレクター特集で雑誌'Love'で紹介されています。
最も最近の作品はPolydor Recordsに所属するBright Eyesのミュージックプロモになります。

この作品の以前ではBBC Electric promsとWarp Filmsから依頼を受けたプロモ'Grizzly Bear'、'Knife'があります。
BBC Electric promsの仕事はこれが始めてで、最近このムービーがカンヌ映画祭2007で上映されました。
また、Guardian / Secondlife film fest(http://www.secondlife.com)で上映される予定になっています。

Hitspaper：Could you tell us Elefant Art's history?
Alexander：My Name is Alexander Turvey, Im co director, founder of Elefant Art, along side Ariel Hofstad.
we are a Design / Animation studio based in London, England + Stavanger, Norway http://www.elefantart.com
I focus my creative attention on producing intricately styled film, animation, Illustration & graphic design.
My background in moving image begane whilst studying Graphic Design at Falmouth College of Arts, where I won a number of awards for an E4 Ident.
This then led to winning my first pitch for the most recent animated Ideas Factory promo for Channel 4.
I went on to work at London based design / animation studio 'Precursor' where I worked on various Promos for MTV, Suzuki and E4.
Now running Elefant Art as a full time business.

We were recently listed in the top 10 new designers of 07 by Digit magazine, and listed in a global poll of the top 20 new illustrators by 'Computer Arts' magazine.
I was recently signed as a director to London based production company 'Love' who now represent me for music promos.
Most recently I was commissioned to create a promo for Bright Eyes, for Polydor Records, available here

Previous to Bright Eyes was a short film for 'Grizzly Bear' 'Knife' for the BBC Electric proms & Warp Films.
This was part of an exclusive commission that was premiered at the first BBC Electric Proms, And was recently screened at Cannes film festival 2007.
The promo is also due to be screened within a virtual blimp in http://www.secondlife.com as part of the Guardian / Secondlife film fest.






Hitspaper：作品を通じて表現したいことを教えて下さい。　
Alexander：私達は美しさを追求して細かいディテールまで大きな情熱を持って取り組みます。
私達の創造性は常に移行し変化していきます。過去の作品を遡ってみるとその時点での心理描写が明確に現れているのが見てとれると思います。
それは時に美しく、時に醜くそしてセクシーです。

Hitspaper：What are you trying to express through your work?
Alexander：We have a huge passion for detail, beauty, craftmenship and intricacy, our creativity always shifts and changes and really what you see on our site is often an accurate depiction of our state of mind at the time of creation.
Some times beautiful, sometimes ugly....some times sexy.






Hitspaper：経験を通じて発見・認識したことを教えて下さい。
Alexander：ものを制作する上で時間の管理が非常に重要だということを学びました。
また失敗を恐れないことと失敗を成功の燃料とすることでしょうか、、、失敗をした時こそチャンスなのだと思います。

Hitspaper：What have you discovered or gained through your experiences?
Alexander：Time management is essential you need to be confident in each and every discision you make.
You also need to be unaffected by failure, use failure to fuel your success...Ive learnt to grab the bull by the horns, not to burn bridges and to know when im wrong.






Hitspaper：クリエーターにとって最も重要な要素は何だと思いますか？
Alexander：何もおそれない無尽蔵な情熱と原動力はあなたを失敗を恐れない強い信念へと結びつけるでしょう。
またトレンドやそれと似た俗物的なものを研究しそれを意識する必要があると思います。ただし、心はそういった俗物的なものからは離れて見守っていて下さい。
そうすることによりあなた自身のトレンドを創りだすことができるでしょう。

Hitspaper：What do you think is the most important elements for creator?
Alexander：Relentless passion and drive, coupled with an insatiable amount of ambition cant fault you.
You need to be able to be discisive and un affected by trends and at the same time aware of them.
But stay at a distance, be able to create your own trends.






Hitspaper：最近のプロジェクトを教えて下さい。
Alexander：最も最近の作品はPolydor RecordsのBright eyesというミュージックプロモを手掛けていました。
Lime Treeは憂鬱でロマンスがありメランコリックな物語で、その物語の核心は"目で探し、心で感じて触ることで繋がり、しかし死によってすべて失う"ということをテーマとしています。
この美しく形骸化されない物語は、手と心臓のみに焦点を当てたコラージュイメージ映像になっていますね。

Hitspaper：Please tell us about current project?
Alexander：Most Recently I finished directing a music promo for indie icon Bright eyes for Polydor Records.
Lime Tree is a melancholic tale of misguided romance, and unsynchronised emotions, It was inspired by the saying, ‘The eye finds, the heart chuyst, the hand binds, but death loosyth’.
A beautifully obscure narrative is built entirely from collaged intricate shots, using only the hand, heart and eye as the focal point.






Hitspaper：最近の傾向として人々はクリエーターに何を求めていると思いますか？
Alexander：一般人が美しいと思える作品を現在ではパソコン(フォトショップやイラストレーター)を使用して簡単に制作できるようになってきました。
そうした現状の中、私が思うにディスプレイ上で構築されている優れた作品のモーメントの多くは3Dで制作された奥行き感とスケール感が現れています。
私はそれらのデザイン要素(構成・側面をデザインする能力)がデザイナーとしてのスキルを表す本当のデモンストレーションだと思っていて、その能力は他の局面何のアプリケーションに頼らず例えば素手で作品を制作する場合に顕著に現れてくると思います。

Hitspaper：As a recent trend,what kinds of things do you see people demanding from creator?
Alexander：I think the easier it becomes for nearly anyone to pick up a computer and teach themselves photoshop, illustrator etc the less desirable this aesthetic becomes to the public eye.
Allot of the great creative work on display at the moment is prop based, playing with scale, perspective and all manner of materials in 3d environments.
I think these traditional craft like methods of design really seporate a good designer from a great designer.






Hitspaper：クリエイティブシーンで興味があることを教えて下さい。
Alexander：今一番興味があるのはプロモとコマーシャルディレクションですね、、、
私は限られた時間の中で多様なプロセスが可能なミュージックプロモの可能性が好きなんです。
全く使われないスキルを組み合わせたり好きなグラフィックデザインを組み合わせたり新しいスキルの開発となったりと、
私にとっては非常に中毒性が高い仕事です。

Hitspaper：What genre do you find interesting in the creative scene?
Alexander：Music promo and commercial direction have now become my biggest interests,
I love the hugely varied process in which you can bring a piece of music to life in such a short space of time,
compared to graphic design working with promo direction calls on a combination of many skills im not used to using and
in some cases have only started to develop, but i think this is where the addictive aspect to direction kicks in.






Hitspaper：将来のビジョンを教えて下さい。
Alexander：実は以前から東京に行ってそこでエキシビジョンを開きたいと思っていました。それは今年の予定リストのトップです。
現在は今より大きな仕事を受けるのが私の夢で展望ではありますが、最近深く考えるのは旅行をして新しい文化を経験して自分の肥やしにしなければならないということですね。

Hitspaper：Please tell us Elefant Art's future vision?
Alexander：I have actually been having dreams about visiting tokyo and putting on an exhibition there, that is top of my list this year.
Its always my vision to take on bigger, bolder projects, but something that has become really apparent to me recently is that I should be traveling with my work and experiencing new cultures.
