世界を舞台に活躍するバルーン・アーティスト 細貝里枝 とアートディレクター、グラフィックデザイナーの 河田孝志からなるバルーンユニット Daisy Balloon が、2008年から2011年の3年に渡り、バルーンの可能性を追い求め、制作し続けてきた作品群がアート・ブックとして発表されます。
Balloon artist Rie Hosokai and art director/graphic designer Takashi Kawada travel the world together as the balloon unit, Daisy Balloon. Over the course of 3 years from 2008 to 2011, they pursued the possibilities of balloon art and in this book they present their works. 
本作品集には、「靡く」「捲れる」「舞う」から想起される躍動をテーマにした『躍動するバルーン』や、
バルーンの最小単位の重なりと異なるクリエイティビティの重なりのアナロジーから読み解く『レイヤーの重なり』、
香港のハーバーシティにて開催された「Chocolate A-Z Exhibition」への出品作品『光と影とバルーン』、
2010年4月に創刊された「RICH magazine/issue01」に寄稿した『舞い降りた少女』、
無意味な争いの愚かさをアイロニーを含めて表現した『バルーン戦争』、
バルーンの構成物を技術的視座から、再考し、より本質的なバルーンを認識するために紡ぎ出されたストーリー『森のアップルベアー』等が含まれます。

The irony of a pointless and foolish battle portrayed in “Balloon Wars.”
The story of “Forest Apple Bear” woven out to show the technicality of the art and appreciate balloons for what they are. These are the concepts compiled in this book. 
そもそもバルーンは、しぼんでしまい形が残りません。
花に喩えると作品が完成した状態が満開で、時間とともに枯れていくと言えます。
しぼまない素材を使用した研究を、日夜 Daisy Balloonで研究していますが、実現するのは、まだまだ未来の話です。
このブックは、Daisy Balloonが 今出来ること、つまり、”この瞬間の美しさを写真として残したい” という強い思いが込もっています。

Balloons inevitably deflate and lose their shape.
In figurative terms, a completed work is like a flower in full bloom. They wither away with time.
Daisy Balloon spends day and night examining alternative non-deflatable materials, but that reality is still a far stretch.
The very thing Daisy Balloon can do right now, ‘to capture the beauty of the moment in photographs,’ is exactly what this book sets out to do.
Balloon art which is a faction of pop art is still relatively unknown to the general public.
